At Home Manicure

Wow, it's been quite a while since I've updating this blog, huh? I am so sorry! I do not want to ignore my blog, I happen to love it! It's just been hard finding things to write about due to school starting and I've been very busy. Moving on...

Tonight I rented Julie & Julia from Redbox and had a little pamper night for myself. I ended up purchasing a few more nail polishes than I meant to, but I really enjoy what I got. I purchased Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Fast Dry Nail Color in 26 - Lively Lilac and ORLY Top 2 Bottom Basecoat & Topcoat All-In-One at CVS. I also purchased some cute nail stickers I had to talk myself into buying. They were costly at $6, but knowing I'll only wear two per manicure, they will last me quite a while. I was also on the search for pure glycerin [which I still have yet to find] for taking my mineral eyeshadows and putting those into pans in a palette. So I drove across the street to Walgreens and they did not have any either. But I saw Wet n Wild Megalast Nail Color in 206B - Undercover which is a great nailpolish for the fall and also for my cute dress I plan on wearing Saturday. And the price was FANTASTIC! So while waiting in line to check out, I glance and see that Revlon polishes are on sale for $2.99 so even though it doesn't work well for fall, I grabbed Revlon Nail Enamel in 85 - Minted and the lady at checkout said that a second one would be half price so I got 903 - Hot for Chocolate for $1.50! So five nailpolishes in a day. Not planned!

I got home and popped in my DVD and started my manicure. I started by soaking my hands in warm water with some liquid soap in it for 5 minutes, then drying and applying some lotion. After that I exfoliated with a mixture of olive oil and sugar [which I made WAY too much of so I exfoliated my lips too...I have enough to probably exfoliate my body LOL!] and then applied some moisturizer [I just used the same moisturizer I use on my face] and of course pushed back my cuticles. Base coat, two coats of polish, sticker, and a top coat and I love my manicure! It was amazing how the beforehand steps REALLY helped my manicure look fantastic! Taking the time to do that was well worth it!

So long sweet summer...

So the summer is OVER. *waves goodbye* For me, my last [YES!] semester of college started on Wednesday. I've been busy with work and I'm heading into one of the BUSIEST weeks starting tomorrow. Seven straight days of work...along with school. It will be insane. I knew this week would happen months ago. Long story short, the store manager will be out of town all week, so it's up to the assistant manager and me to hold down the fort. Both of us are in school, so we're both missing a few days of school due to opening. It happens...my teachers know...not much we can do!

But in good news, Saturday afternoon I'm heading home to see my family INCLUDING my brother! He's flying in from L.A. and I'm super excited to see him! I got present for my parents [I got my Mom a GameBoy SP, some games, and a carry case and some jam and salsa for my Dad...hope he isn't reading this!!] It will be a good weekend.

Today at Target, Mike and I saw a Wii Remote with Motion Plus [in PINK!] for $29.99 which is a STEAL! Those are like $55 controllers! Mikey got it for me as a present :] He's now playing Mafia II that we rented [for Xbox360], so far he likes it. I've been playing mainly LEGO: Harry Potter Years 1-4 [for Wii] and Dragon Age IX [for DS]...I need to play some more of my Bowser's Inside Story for my DS I started a while ago. Just been so busy I haven't got a chance!

Well here is a video...and good news...I won the contest for the Pikachu Inspired Makeup Tutorial! Exciting huh?!

Well...sorry I haven't been blogging lately. I can't blog except from Mike's computer, a school computer, or my phone. Oh darn. Here's another video I did recently talking about some products I purchased from Isle of Eden.

I just bought 3 more scents from them! I can't wait to get them and review them as well. Well...hopefully I will blog soon! See y'all around!! Happy fall!

New Video Tutorial

So after weeks it seems of not uploading a real video, I have finally uploaded one! It is an entry into a contest hosted by TheRaulness on YouTube and I entered! This is a look based on Pikachu! Yes the popular yellow Pokemon!

So here is the video! Please check it out! I really liked doing this and might want to do more Pokemon inspired tutorials if enough people like it :D

So hope you enjoyed! I already have another video filmed, a review on the Physician's Formula Mineral Wear Correcting Concealer, which just needs to be edited! Thanks for stopping by!

N.Y.C. Makeup & L'Oreal Face Wash

So after a long day of work, I ran by WalMart for some groceries and while I was there, I picked up a few beauty products! And I'm so happy with my choices!

L'Oreal Skin Expertise Go 360 Clean Deep Exfoliating Scrub
I saw a few blog posts on this new face wash [for quite awhile I actually thought it was a body wash! Silly me!] and wanted to try it out. I've been sticking with Neutrogena face washes for years now, so trying something new it scary. The $6 price tag wasn't horrible, especially compared to some Neutrogena products I'm buying. When I got home, I went to wash my face and this is so fun! It makes me excited about washing my face at night, which I'm SO bad about doing. The scrubber pops out, leaving a small hole in the middle of the bottle. It's soft and flexible and really not irritating to the skin! I bought the exfoliating scrub, but they have variations, including a cream cleanser and a sensitive skin cleanser. I really enjoyed this product and love it!

N.Y.C. Blushable Creme Stick in 645U Big Apple Blush
So I have heard Emily [Beauty Broadcast] mention this blush before and seen people picking it up and loving it all over her Facebook page so I grabbed one. It was less than $4 and I was a little weary. I do have a convertible color by Stila in a palette that I'm iffy on. But I really like this blush! It goes on SO amazingly easy! This is the perfect travel blush, purse blush, or even everyday blush! This is DEFINITELY going to be used by me MANY more times. I wish there was a bit more color selection. I might go back and get the berry color one day, but I like this one :]

N.Y.C. Ultra Last Lipwear in 405B Blue Rose
So after purchasing the Milani Glitzy Glamour Gloss in Fashion Diva and loved the bright pink color, I wanted a similar lipstick just for a more long-lasting wear. And I feel that this Blue Rose N.Y.C. lipstick is pretty similar, and for just under $2, you can't really beat that! Definitely a favorite new lipcolor. I NEVER would have worn something like this years ago, but I think it's such a fun color with a neutral lid and fun colorful outfit. Such a fun buy! I bought my Milani lipgloss at CVS the other day for about $7.

N.Y.C. Ultra Moist Lipwear in 319B Violet Shine
What a great lipstick for under $1! I am SO buying more N.Y.C. lipsticks. While this would not be an everyday lipstick [I'd go with Maybelline or Rimmel for that since they are quite moisturizing] it is great for trying out a new color without putting lots of money down. The image I posted does not really truly reflect the Violet Shine color. I would describe it as more of a pink color...it seems really dark in that image. More of a pinky nude in person.

So I really like my new items. I'm trying to not go overboard on purchasing makeup, since I do have quite a bit. But new things and great deals seem to cause me to stray from this rule!

And I just had one of the yummiest late-night snacks. Sugar snow peas [so crunchy] and a delicious pineapple, mango, and peach smoothie [homemade with V8 VFusion in Peach Mango] Delicious! Such a good treat!

Garnier Fructis Deep Conditioner

Hi everyone! It's been a while since I have last updated. I have been so busy over the weekend working on a paper for my marketing/management class on Belgium, along with working, and then on top of that my Internet stopped working! Well...I won't go into details but I don't pay for my Internet here so I can't really be too upset! :X

But I found a cool app on my HTC Evo that allows me to use the phones internet while plugged into my laptop! I still watch Youtube videos on my phone, it's really fast, but for blogging and stuff, my phone can get pretty annoying! So this is perfect! And it doesn't cost any extra than I'm already paying!

So I wanted to update quickly to let you know that I am still around! And I have a recently had a first time experience with deep clean conditioners! I've always had a bit of frizz going on in my hair and wanted it to be healthier. And I've heard about leave-in conditioners but never bought one.

So I had to get a remote last night [needed to play LEGO: Harry Potter on the Wii and without my remote which stopped working, I could not get to the input channel to play! I've also been playing Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies which is awesome!!] So at WalMart I picked up the Garnier Fructis Haircare Fortifying Deep Conditioner and used it last
night. I have used Sunsilk Captivating Curls De-Frizz Leave-In Cream but I don't think it's the same thing.

So I unfortunately woke up late for work this morning [but managed to make it to work on time...but not with my hair straightened like I had planned to do! But my hair feels VERY soft! I guess I will use this product once a week or so. I will have to find something to do with my 3 minutes I have to wait while it is left in. I ended up counting, but that got boring VERY fast! Have you ever used a leave-in conditioner? What did you use? Did you notice a difference? As always, thank you so much for stopping by!! Take care!

Testing from my HTC Evo

This is just a boring test entry to see how this app works with my Evo. I will try adding a picture to see how it works. Take care and goodnight!

Lip Balm Love!

Hi y'all! I mentioned quickly in my last post about a lip balm that I used in a natural makeup look. If you watch lots of beauty videos on YouTube, you might have already heard about it. But if not, I will tell you about it! It is from a company called EOS which stands for Evolution of Smooth. Cool huh?! Well my first encounter with EOS was actually not this popular lip balm...intrigued? Keep reading!

My father is the king of good deals! He is great at finding great deals online and in stores. One of his favorite things to do is the monthly Walgreens rebates. I can not tell you the last time I purchased a toothbrush do to the fact Walgreens seems to have free rebates on them EVERY month! Need a toothbrush? Come to my house! Haha! Anyway, whenever it is a body wash, hair product, makeup, etc...he usually grabs me something. He actually knows pretty well what colors to get me but sometimes will call or text asking what color to get. I can just imaging my Dad in Walgreen "Do you want the lip plumping lipgloss or matte lipcolor?" Hahaha!

So when I go home to visit, I find my little pile of products in my room for me and one is a very odd shaped bottle that says EOS on it. I have never seen this product, nor heard of the brand, which for me is surprising! So I asked if it was mine and he said yes. It was a shaving cream. It claimed to be for use wet or dry, have a stylish design that won't rust in the shower, have tons of moisturizing ingredients, and give your skin radiance and glow! Sounds great right?! But of course, I'm a little skeptical. After using another shaving cream [not gel] it seemed to clog my razor up a bit, dulling it faster than normal. But I gave it a shot. It was free!

Now it is different than a regular shaving gel. Reading some reviews on it, it seems people are using more than they should. This is to be applied in a THIN layer. Almost like an invisible layer. And I guess for some it's frustrating to not see where you're shaving/where you have shaved. But I have been using a cream before so it wasn't the first time. The pump is fantastic in the shower. And the smell is great! If you've ever thought about trying this out, I say it's worth a shot, but make sure to only use a small layer. It's not to be like a shaving gel that covers your legs completely in a white foam!

So when I saw Emily from Beauty Broadcast talking about EOS lipbalms, I knew I had to check them out soon! So I headed to my local Walgreens where I found a cute pack of 3 in a fun summer bag and snatched them right up!

The sphere shape design obviously gained popularity. But I do like it. It's easy to apply [no twisting up and down] and quick to throw in my bag and fish out since it's nice and round with a flat bottom. The Lemon Drop scent is fantastic! Lemon Drop is the only one as of now that does contain a SPF so it is my summer lip balm for sure! But I love all the smells! I wanted to give one to my Mom but I might have to buy her her own since I don't know which "flavor" I could give up! Also, the lip balm is available in stick form as well.

So these are a quick review of my recent tries with EOS products. I hope to see more products by them soon! Give a visit to their website to learn more about the brand. Have you used EOS? Let me know what you think!

Face of the Day

I tried out two makeup looks the past two days from some videos I have recently seen. The first look I did was an easy, natural makeup look. I saw this look on YouTube on michellephan's page. To watch the tutorial, click here.

I used a small amount of concealer and powder foundation, a little bit of blush, primer and my NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk on my eyes and cupid's bow. I filled in my eyebrows and used some mascara. And I finished off with my E.O.S. Lip Balm [I have all 3!]

The look was so easy, quick, and made me feel confident. The minimal makeup look is great to throw on quickly for school or work, without looking tired!

I wore this look out on a date with my boyfriend to Applebee's! It was fun to have a fresh natural face :]

The next look I tried out was a color pop look by juicystar07. It was a neutral eyeshadow on top, with a pop of color for eyeliner on the bottom! Check out the video here.

To copy her look, I used my Stila Road to Radiance Eye Palette and used the color City Chick on my lid. For the bottom pop of color, I used TheAllNaturalFace eyeshadow in Mermaid's Choice.

This look was really fun! But I did have problems with some sweating off the teal color due to the fact I live in ridiculously humid Texas! So I might wait until it cools off a bit until I wear this look again [or where I'm not walking around outside as much as I did!]

Hope you enjoy the looks! Thanks for stopping by!

Hi there! For my first "real" post, I'll do a quick haul! I feel free to talk about what I need to and not feel restricted by time limits :D Anyway, let's get started. First off, I went to Target to check out the ELF line! I was so happy to see some products and grabbed a few. Here is what I got from Target:

Mechanical Eyelash Tool
I've heard good things about this eyelash curler. I've been using my Maybelline brand one for quite a few years now off and on. I haven't curled my lashes until recently, which I now do everyday. It was only $1 so I didn't feel like I had much to lose trying it out!

Nourishing Cuticle Pen
This tool claims to relieve dry nails and flakey cuticles by moisturizing them. I tried it out when I got home and I have noticed my nails are softer. I will see how continued use works for my nails. I heard it can come off when washing hands repeatedly, so I might keep it in my purse. Very easy to apply!

Concealer Brush
This brush is so so tiny! It's quite cute though. I like how tiny it is, but I'm not sure if it will work for my undereye circles. I know it will be perfect for covering up spot to spot!

Blushing, Bronzing, and Blending Brush
Wow! What an alliteration huh?! Well, this is a brush I can tell is cheap. I mean, it only cost $1, but you can tell. It is angled, which I like, but it's not very full. I will try it out a few times, but I wish I had gone with the Studio Blush Brush. I might grab that next time I'm at that Target [the one in my town does not carry ELF]. I'd also like to get the Studio Concealer Brush, since it's a little larger.

Contouring Blush and Brozing Powder
I bought this, having heard good things about it. And so far [with my one application] I've been happy! I think this is a great blush and bronzer. It will be great for travel since it will cut down on blush and bronzers that I have that are seperate.

So that is the product I got from Target. I'm satisfied with my purchases!

The next stop was Ulta. I had to return my Maybelline Dream Smooth Mousse I bought because I purchased it in the wrong color [Porcelain Ivory...REALLY?] and also return the Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstain which I just was not that happy with. I felt it was too dry and not a color I would use often. So here is what I got at ULTA:

Maybelline Dream Smooth Mousse in Creamy Natural
So now that I have the correct color, I am VERY happy with my new foundation! I still might stick to a little bit more powder for a lighter look since it's so hot and humid here, but once it cools down, this will be my everyday foundation.

NYX Single Eyeshadow in Rust
Having bought 2 other NYX colors at my last ULTA trip, I wanted to get some more. I really liked the color of Rust, something I don't really have so I picked that up. :]

NYX Single Eyeshadow in Wild Fire
This color is SO pretty! Not only is my favorite color teal [one of my other favorite colors is orange!] but I like how shimmery this one is! Even though I have two other teal eyeshadows...Oh well!

NYX Lip Gloss with Mega Shine in Smokey Look
I bought the color Beige [which is really more of a pink] at my last ULTA trip so I got Smokey Look this time. ULTA's website did not have a picture of Smokey Look so I just grabbed a random one [Perfect] for the image. I really like this one! I love the NYX lipglosses! Maybe I'll try something more funky next time!

So that was my small ULTA haul. I had to restrain myself quite a bit. There were quite a few OPI nail polishes I liked, some headbands I was eyeing, but I kept myself controlled. I also got some bobby pins but that isn't exciting. LOL :]

I bought some clothes at Old Navy as well, but I'm quite tired and will take pictures of those at a later date! Hope y'all enjoyed! Goodnight!

Hi there!

Hi there everybody! I'm starting up a blog. The past couple of days I've thought long and hard about YouTube and blogs and what direction I personally want to go in. I've always enjoyed watching videos for tutorials, hauls, fashion, etc. But I also enjoy blogs. For me, writing a blog takes much less time for me than recording a video, editing, and uploading. While I have REALLY enjoyed the videos I have made recently, I do not find it to be something I can continue doing with my last semester of college approaching as well as maintaining a job [not to mention keeping up with friends and family!]

So I have come to the conclusion that a blog is the way to go. As far as tutorials run, there are so many better people on YouTube. What I will do is post videos of my favorite YouTubers when I run across them! What I really am excited to do is share my thoughts, ideas, tips, fashion, makeup, reviews, likes, dislikes, and more with you in blog form! I enjoy finding good deals [I'm a coupon LOVER] and instead of taking the time to record a video, I can just post here!

Now I will probably continue to make videos when time permits, but my blog will be my main focus! So this is my LONG intro blog, but you haven't even learned anything about me! So for those who don't know me, here's the 4-1-1.

My name is Whitney [or Whitney Lynn, either will do] and I'm 22. I'm a senior in college in the hot and humid state of Texas. My family is very important to me, including my Mom, Dad, and big brother, Jeremy! We're a very close family and we really enjoy traveling and movies. I have some wonderful friends and for privacy reasons, will withold names and pictures for them from this blog :] I do have a boyfriend, he is WONDERFUL! His name is Mike [or Mikey] and he lives down the street from me. He likes cars, a LOT. I do have some pets too! There is Tigger, the cat who lives with my parents who I had since I was in elementary school. She is a gray tabby but is getting old. My next pet is my adorable hedgehog named Sonic! She is quite spoiled for such a little rodent. And my boyfriend and I found a little black kitty that I named Mr.Jingles. He lives with Mikey and he is such a terd, but we love him so much! He is pretty much the coolest cat ever. As for the boring stuff, I will be graduating with my BBA in Marketing in December 2010. And I do have a job at a video game store :D I do enjoy video games, reading, baking, crafts, and painting. Hope that helps y'all get to know me! Thanks for visiting and stay tuned for more updates!
